A reborn Zimbabwe after a period of instability is now fast becoming one of the most sought after destinations in Southern Africa. The magical thunderous mist of the majestic Victoria Falls, abundance of wildlife in its National Parks, the beautiful scenery in Matopos National Park and the Eastern Highlands “little Scotland”, a rich variety of birdlife, a rich heritage of arts, culture and history have all remained unchanged over the years.

This amazing guided tour of Zimbabwe begins in the mighty Victoria Falls or “Mosi Oa Tunya” as it is affectionately known. From here you head to Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe’s flagship game reserve for game viewing safaris in one of Africa’s great parks.

The Matobo National Park is a beautiful area of granite outcrops declared a World Heritage Site for its preserved collection of ancient rock art. The reserve is also a haven for many rare and elusive species of African wildlife including leopard, rhino, black eagle and roan and sable antelopes.

From Matopo National Park you’ll head to the World Heritage Site of Great Zimbabwe exploring the largest man-made ancient structure south of the Sahara. The next day you hit the road east to the gentle realm of Zimbabwe’s beautiful Eastern Highlands ending up in Harare on the last day.

Retire at a day’s end to the natural rock-pool and sundeck, the Leopard’s Lair lounge and bar, a cave-style boma for pre-dinner drinks or the popular lodge library. The seven thatched A-frame cottages, each with en-suite bathroom and private balcony, resonate African creative flair.

Find solitude within an intimate retreat as secluded as the original Kalanga grain bins that nestle amongst the rocks.

Outside, the natural rock pool and sundeck is a cool contrast to the warm granites that surround the pool. Refuge can also be taken at midday in the nearby pool boma area where ice cold drinks are served.

At sundown the cave-style boma is illuminated by lanterns as guests sit around a traditional fire while recounting stories of the day’s activities.
